🍽️ Eating with Dentures
• Initial adjustment: At first, chewing may feel different because dentures don’t transmit the same sensation as natural teeth. Your gums and muscles need time to adapt.
• Start soft: Begin with softer foods cut into small pieces (e.g., eggs, fish, cooked vegetables). This helps you learn how to balance chewing on both sides.
• Progress gradually: As confidence builds, you can move on to firmer foods like meats, apples, or nuts.
• Chewing technique: Place food evenly on both sides of your mouth and chew slowly. This prevents dentures from tipping.
• Sticky or hard foods: Things like caramel, tough steak, or very hard nuts can be more challenging. Many people still enjoy them, but it may require extra care or cutting food smaller.
✅ Long-term outlook
Most people adapt well and return to eating a wide variety of foods. With practice, dentures can feel natural, though they may never be exactly like natural teeth. Proper fit and regular adjustments by your prosthetist make a big difference
